Open Division (ages 0-17)
The Longmont Dance Theatre Academy is Longmont’s only pre-professional ballet school and emphasizes ballet technique. The Open Division was introduced to encourage students to expand their dance knowledge by offering a wide curriculum of dance styles. We currently offer classes in Aerial, Boys Dance, Jazz, and Modern.
Students may participate in the Open Division in addition to or independently of the Ballet Program. LDTA believes that training in all types of dance provides the versatility necessary for our young students while encouraging a broad understanding of dance as an art form. Our Open Division instructors are excited to teach sound technique while fostering the love of dance in all art forms.
Students enrolled in the Open Division have the opportunity to perform in the Annual Recital at the end of each year.
Placement for Open Division Classes: Aerial, Ballet, Boys Dance, Jazz, and Modern
Placement in the Open Division classes is based on the age of the student as of the 15th of the first full month of classes. The age guidelines for initial placement are guidelines and actual placement is subject to level appropriateness based on teacher and school director evaluation.
See our current class schedule for available classes. The Open Division includes classes in Aerial, Boys Dance, and Jazz. In addition, Level C-E Ballet and Modern classes may be taken individually as part of the Open Division for students who do not wish to take the full Ballet Division curriculum.
