Darlene Williams

A versatile choreographer, a skilled teacher and an enthusiastic cultural leader, Darlene has shared her love for dance and the arts with professional dancers, emerging artists and youth over a 30-year career across the Canadian provinces. Darlene is the former Artistic Director of White Birch Ballet, Saskatchewan’s professional ballet company that delighted prairie audiences with new repertoire by award-winning choreographers. As a choreographer, Ms. Williams has a body of work of over fifty ballets. She choreographed two original concert ballets for White Birch Ballet and is well known in the prairie region for her many story-adaptation ballets for youth. Her students have been accepted by professional schools including Banff Summer School for the Arts, Royal Winnipeg Ballet School, Alberta Ballet School, National Ballet School of Canada and the Quinte Ballet School of Canada. Darlene trained and performed with the Fort Wayne Ballet Company in Indiana under the direction of Michael Tevlin and Arnott Mader. A graduate of the Ryerson University’s Theatre School in Toronto while under the direction of Maisie MacPhee and Sonia Chamberlain, she holds her Teaching Diploma with the Royal Academy of Dance. Darlene has recently become a licensed Silver Swans® teacher and will be embarking on teaching ballet for over- 55s this fall.
